The mountains surrounding Morzine are popular with cyclists from all over the world. The Tour de France regularly passes through the area and has made the challenging climbs up the region's mountain passes famous. Whether you want to conquer one of the formidable cols or simply enjoy a family day out amidst some beautiful scenery, this is the area for you!
Cycling is also the perfect way to travel around and take in the spectacular scenecy of the Portes du Soleil.

Morzine is rapidly making a name for itself as a trail-running paradise. There are numerous dedicated trails to suit all ability levels which are well marked and maintained. The trails are graded green, blue, red or black and regular signposts give details on distance and altitude gain. Detailed route maps are available in both paper versions and mobile downloads.
There are a number of excellent trail running races in the Morzine area each year. In particular the Trail des Hauts Forts, KMV de Nantaux, Spartan race, Biot'rail and Trail des Gets.

The Morzine region of the Portes du Soleil is one of the most popular mountain biking regions in the world and many great cross-country trails can be accessed easily from our chalets.
To explore further afield, simply hook your bike onto one of the lifts that operate throughout the summer season to access miles of diverse mountain bike trails winding through spectacular alpine scenery.
There are trails catering for riders of all abilities, including a growing number of e-mountain bike trails.
Mountain bikes of all specifications can be hired easily in Morzine. Alternatively, if you are bringing your own bike we have plenty of secure storage space available for our guests to use.

The Ranch Portes du Soleil is a fabulous little riding school right across the road from La Vieille Ferme chalet. It is run by Sam and Catherine who are super-friendly, warm and welcoming; and experienced in teaching both kids and adults.

Many ski lifts re-open in the summer months to allow easy access to the higher mountain ranges for walkers and bikers alike.
You can purchase passes for individual lifts, day-tickets or weekly passes. Prices are different for mountain-bikers and pedestrians. Your can find full details on lift opening times and prices here.
Morzine also has a fun summer sledge run which can be accessed from the Crusaz Chairlift. It is suitable for kids aged 3+ (though those under 1.25m must be accompanied by an adult.)
There are 800km of sign-posted footpaths in and around Morzine in the Portes du Soleil - passing through traditional villages, taking in beautiful views and stunning flora and fauna.
With hundreds of footpaths of varying difficulty, whether you fancy a gentle stroll alongside a beautiful lake or want to conquer a challenging climb to a majestic mountain peak you will always be able to find a route to suit your needs.
You can hike alone or accompanied by a trekking guide who will share with you his local knowledge and experience. 24 ski lifts remain open during the summer months, enabling easy access to the higher mountain trails.

A traditional mountain village, unique in that a herd of 40 freindly goats wander freely through the streets enjoying the attention of the many visitors. The village offers numerous restaurants, souvenir shops and beautiful picnic spots on the river. An afternoon out here is something that families can't fail to enjoy.
A beautiful spot: a magnificent lake surrounded by imposing cliffs on one side and spectacular views on the other. There is a safe, supervised swimming area and fishing, kayaking, walking and pony trekking can also be enjoyed.
A spectacular array of gorges carved out of the limestone rocks by the river Dranse. Open 9:30 to 18:00 from May to September.
The historic "Abbaye d'Aulps" in the centre of St Jean d'Aulps is open during July & August from 10:00 to 19:00. You can read more about the Abbaye here
The pretty spa-towns of Thonon-Les-Bains and Evian, resting on the edge of lake Geneva, are just a short drive from the chalet
The medieval fishing village of Yvoire is 55 minutes drive from Morzine. The village is full of character and well worth a visit
The cosmopolitan, bustling Swiss city of Geneva is just over an hour's drive away. Geneva is full of great restaurants, bars and shops and hosts regular events and festivals throughout the year
The picturesque town of Annecy is 1.5hrs from the chalet. While away the hours strolling through the quaint streets of the old-town or spend an afternoon at the sunny beach
Chamonix (1hour 20mins drive) is another local town which you can't miss visiting. The village itself offers numerous great bars, restaurants and amenities and it is also a great base for a visit to the magnificent Mont Blanc
